RGV Fluff: Cloth Diapering 101

Facebook has a way of making life easier for moms... and sometimes more difficult. (It's a complicated emotion right?) haha

I have joined several groups on FB: Cloth Diapering, Foster Parenting Support, Buy/Sell/Trade, Local Garage Sales, Babywearing, Breastfeeding Support, RGV Vegans, Play groups, Homeschool Coops, and Attachment Parenting. These are all great ways to meet local people living a life similar to mine. Sometimes our "real life" friends can choose different directions than we choose and it's nice to meet other folks that can relate to what you are doing. I know I get funny looks when people ask why I cloth diaper my kid or why I nursed him until he was 2... Well, it's nice to be surrounded by mommas who don't question it and can share along with stories of their own.

Recently, our cloth diapering group suggested a "Cloth Diaper 101" class and after much talk about it. It finally happened! The original venue for this class was supposed to be the library... after one cancellation and a schedule mix up, the class almost didn't happen. I decided to offer up my living room to host and it was so nice to have all the mommas show up today to learn and talk about cloth diapers! There were babies everywhere! It was adorable.

We had a couple of presenters show a power point and pass around different types of cloth diapers today. For mommas that have never used cloth, I'm sure this was great info to get started. I'm excited to see cloth diapers in the RGV and to see that more interest is showing. What a great way to help our environment, and our babies' health! (Who can complain about the money savings also, right?)

I wish I had more pictures to share with you but sadly, my toddler decided to take over my phone this morning... (anything to keep him cooperative lol.) I'm glad to be a part of this growing community of cloth diapering mommas. I hope to see more fluffy bums in the RGV soon.
