First Confession/Reconciliation

First Reconciliation

Derek finally had his big day in front of Fr. Roy. I am so proud of him for working on his 1st Communion. I can't say we are very "church" driven in our household but we definitely do have faith around here. Sometimes the "rules" in place make me roll my eyes and I fear that due to my attitude, my boys won't get a fair chance at forming their own opinions about being Catholic.

I want my boys to feel the warmth in their hearts that I feel. I never felt alone through my darkest days because I always carry God in my heart. I feel it's important for them to have that feeling of having God in their lives... Whether they are Catholic or not in their future.

So on May 2nd, Derek confessed his 10yr old sins... (Which can't possibly be much lol.) He prayed his penance. He ran over to me and embraced me in a big mother/son hug and made me glow with pride in our little church. I pray that he keeps his spirits up during tough times and that he is guided by the light he has brought into my life just by being Derek. He is a remarkable kid and truly makes his momma proud! Congrats on completing your sacrament of Reconciliation Derek!! I love you :)-Norm
