Cloth Diapering: Week 8

We have been cloth diapering for almost 8 weeks now. I've learned about the diapers I have and how they work for my kiddo... Or about how they don't work in some cases haha. In my diaper stash I have a few different brands and styles. Here's the list and I'll include what works and what doesn't for our little guy...

FuzziBunz -One size & Elite: These diapers leaked  EVERY TIME within the first 3-4 weeks. I was so frustrated and almost gave up on them. I tried adjusting the elastics and snapping the diapers differently with no luck. Well after some added chunkiness on little Bentley's part, the diapers started to fit better and we stopped seeing daytime leaks. I have to make sure he is changed within 2hrs at most and I most definitely cannot use these overnight unless I want to change his outfit and the sheets too. This diaper is trim and I like it for daytime use only.

Happy Heineys (snaps) : I haven't had a day yet when this diaper does not leak... It's the last diaper I reach for in my stash... :(

Oh Katy (snaps): I had leaks during the first couple of weeks with this diaper but I've seen that this problem gradually stopped happening. He is fitting much better in the diaper now. This is another daytime diaper that hasn't proven itself to be good at night. I'll give it another shot in a month or so to see if it will redeem itself for night time use.

Flip (snaps): I am so happy with the Flip system. It's simple to use and hasn't been a leaky diaper at all. I can use these covers at night on most days but I prefer not to because I have a night time routine now. I recommend these diapers if you like BumGenius. It's pretty much the same minus the stuffing. I can reuse the shell and just change out the inserts. What a great diaper!

Bum Genius AIO small & medium (Hook & Loop): Love them! It's a great fit... No stuffing... No leaks... Easy on and off w the Hook & Loop closure... What more could a girl want right? The only drawback is that they take a little longer to dry than all my other diapers. After 60 mins in the dryer... I lay them out to finish air drying.

Bum Genius One Size Pocket Diaper (snaps): Also a great diaper! It dries faster than the AIO but I am not a fan of stuffing diapers so I don't know that I'll get any more of these... They really are great for our little guy though! Especially now that his little thighs are filling in... The elastic doesn't seem as rough or tight as other diapers... It's gentle and I like that.

Grovia (snaps): By far the cutest diaper I own... I just ordered the inserts last week and finally tried one last night. It's not a good nighttime diaper for us so far--- it leaked. :(  It's a super easy system though. Snap in your insert and snap off to change the baby. I love that the insert has leg gussets to keep in breast feeding poo and I look forward to using this system when I have to leave the house. It seems like a good "on-the-go diaper." The downfall, it's pricey... So, not my first choice as far as purchases go.

Last and most certainly not least...

Best Bottom (Hook & Loop): My nighttime cover for sure!!! This diaper cover hasn't let me down once in the last 8 weeks. I have paired this diaper cover with the unbleached OsoCozy prefolds. The cover has leg gussets that keep all the runny breast feeding poop contained. I am so happy that these gussets also keep my little one dry at night with his water fall-like peeing sessions. I swear this kid pees like a horse o_O   --- I haven't tried the Best Bottom inserts yet but I plan to simply to get a feel of how the whole system works. I like being able to reuse the shells and simply changing out the prefold. It's economical and easy. This diaper is my favorite right now. I just hope that doesn't change as he starts filling in... This kiddo is going to be a chunky one!

I'm sure I will have more to say after a few more months (weeks... Or maybe even days) of cloth diapering.
