Most summers you can find our family on a big road trip. We either visit our East Coast family or West Coast Family but you can count on a few thousand miles of road tripping. Well this summer was different. 1. Because we just had a baby. 2. Because we really should start cutting back on all those miles. Environmentally speaking, it's probably not the best idea. Monetarily, it's most definitely not the best idea.
This summer I had to use my brain a little more and I had to scope the scene for local (free) events to get my kids out of the house.
We attended some book readings at the local library. Recently, the boys were able to participate in a Captain Underpants book reading/Activity session. Two books were read, a toilet was colored and constructed, chocolate was handed out, and underwear were thrown around... yes, tidy whiteys were being flung in the air.
Seek out activities at your local library, borrow a book or a movie and spend some time reading or cuddling with your kids. Time just passes too quickly and kids grow entirely too fast.
