Babywearing

International Babywearing Week kicked off this Monday (Oct 8-14.) With my first two sons, I remember trying babywearing and not finding a solution that worked for us. Maybe I wasn't on the ball back then because now I see there are so many options for babywearing as well as benefits!

I think I owned a couple of baby carriers but they were bought at a chain retailer so I'm sure it was not the greatest carrier. I remember my shoulders hurting, my back hurting as well, and simply giving up too soon. That didn't deter me from carrying my children but here in our Hispanic community, I constantly heard that carrying my baby too much would "spoil" him.

Well community, I'm here to tell ya that both Derek and Ty were carried "too much" and turned out just fine. They are well adjusted and pretty independent.

Now we are on round three! Haha. Ben is being worn, carried, and loved! He rarely cries! It's amazing to see how content he is most of the time. I like the freedoms of babywearing... I can push my shopping cart, load my grocery bags in the car, into my house etc... All without putting my baby down and he gets to watch all the action ;)

I like the feeling of having my little one close to me even if my hands are tied up doing another task around the house.

If you've thought about babywearing, give it a shot! Go to www.babywearinginternational.org and learn more.
