4 month slump...

We are almost at the 5 month mark and I have to tell you that I have a pretty amazing kid. Ben sleeps well, eats well, and is just such a joy to be around. Of course I could just be bias because he is my son right?

Well we are hitting a nap time slump... I am mostly following my son's cues when it comes to feedings and naps. We don't have a "set" schedule and don't plan on keeping one. He has a routine he developed all on his own and it seems to be working really well. 

Everyday around 9 am he takes one nap and then takes another nap around noon. Well he rubs his eyes, starts to get fussy and usually will nurse around these times. For at least 4-5 days, his sleepiness takes over but nursing and rocking don't work :(  He fusses and fusses and refuses to sleep. His little face breaks my heart.  I know he's not teething since his two teeth already broke through. After a good 30-60 minutes of this struggle, he finally sleeps. This is very unusual for him and I wonder if something else is bothering him. I suppose I'll keep working on figuring it out and I'll let you know if this stage passes. 

If you have a little fussy one, comfort them, hold them close, talk, read, or give them a bath... eventually they will sleep and you'll get that much needed break! Hang in there momma, you're doing great ;)
