RGV March Against Monsanto

Monsanto, a giant company providing genetically engineered seeds. There is much controversy regarding GMO crops and many of us are "waking" up to the seriousness of this GMO world we live in. There is much cause for concern when it comes to eating food that has been genetically modified. I don't want to go into all the specifics since I'm not a scientist and I can't bring you "proof."  What I can urge you to do however, is to learn as much as possible about the foods you are eating. I truly believe that a healthy organic diet can bring better health for you and your family. Time and time again we keep giving in to processed foods simply trusting that it can't hurt us that bad since it's being stocked on the grocery shelves... but this is simply not true. You have to dig, look at the numbers... obesity, diabetes, allergies, cancer, adhd, autism... there's so much out there and so much we can do to change it too. Eat real food... Support local organic farmers... question your food sources... get involved.

On October 12, 2013 a March Against Monsanto was organized world wide to show this seed giant that we the people demand real food. We want labels clearly telling us what we are consuming. The RGV is still behind on this movement but it was very pleasing to the eye to see a small group come together that day to bring awareness to our fellow Valley folks. The march was held Saturday morning... we made posters and chanted. It was refreshing to see others (along with myself) fighting the fight. Maybe one day, our voices will be heard and the future will change for our kids.

Our group chanting...

Ultimately, it was a great turn out. I hope to see more action and involvement in the future as well. I'm excited to see other RGV-ites working hard to make a change! :)
