Upward Soccer

My middle child is a do-it-all. He has tried baseball, tae kwon do, tries my crazy cooking and baking, rides roller coasters... etc etc. You name it, he's willing to try it. This fall I signed him up for Upward Soccer. It was our first time dealing with this organization and I have to tell you, we loved it. It's not a hard core organization (parents losing their mind for scores ...) or anything like that. It's kids teamed up in small groups, playing for fun, for sportsmanship, for a good 'ol time. This is perfect since Ty can be a sore loser at times. I like the way the organization strives to teach the kids about playing fair, and playing for fun.

Yes kids need to learn to win and lose... but frankly, I've seen some of these more serious leagues and they are downright scary. Parents making kids cry or yelling at each other... or the coach... or the ref. It's bogus... if we are trying to teach our kids to learn by example, that is sure not the example I want my kids to be around. They will have the rest of their adult life to deal with assholes on the sidelines. I'm good with my guy trying out a sport he enjoys with a small group of kids he's built a bond with. I hope to do this again next year! It wasn't overwhelming but rather quite fun for all of us. :)

Enjoy the pics of this fun season!

Running through the tunnel... I think EVERY kid loved this part!

Charging towards the oncoming ball... his confidence grew so much in just a couple of games.

Corner kick fun!

When he wasn't on the field, he was kicking the ball around with his baby cousin... <3 p="">
