Our first time in Laredo, TX

My baby has a fantastic Godmother. She is a few hours from home and since Ben is not the biggest fan of his car seat, we hadn't taken a road trip to see her. She has always been a doll and visited us.

This past weekend, I decided enough was enough and I packed my little man in the mom mobile and headed towards Laredo. Our first trip to the historic city. Now, since I was traveling with a toddler, the historic aspect of the trip was x'ed out lol... but we did spend some quality time with our dear friend.

Chick flicks, cake baking, pizza night, and wine... what more can a girl or a toddler want right? Ok, maybe the wine would be omitted for my little guy but overall, Ben loved visiting his "Mimi." (Babies sure have a way of nicknaming don't they?) He was exploring, taunting the pups in the back yard, and stacking his "Mimi's" canned goods.

I was very grateful for a smooth drive to and from... Lord knows road trips with Ben are usually anything but fun. He was quite the tolerant kid this weekend. :) Driving from the RGV to Laredo is different... small towns, narrow roads, and very few vegan anything along the way made this trip a bit of a challenge.

While in town, we were able to find a fine little pizza spot named Brick. They offer brick oven baked pizza which is always a winner in my book. I simply had them leave off the cheese. I had portabello mushroom as my toppings along with tomato and enjoyed some baked Kale chips as an appetizer. Ben didn't complain about our dining choice either... but he sure did christen the place by letting the poor waiter know he had been on a long road trip... as soon as we walked in the door, Ben decided to throw up his recently eaten blueberries. I was mortified, but you would think that by baby #3, I wouldn't be so prone to turning all sorts of shades of red when something like this happens. Thank the heavens that no one got puked on... I don't know if I would ever be able to go back! Haha!

While our visit was a short one, it was quite nice. I loved being there to talk to my dear friend and to have my little guy bond with such a special adult in his life. She's so special to us, I hope we can make her see how much she means to our little family. :)
